TUMBLR I NEED YOUR HELP
I am planning on entering the National Geographic photography competition and although I obviously won’t win, I still want to enter. But I can’t decide which photograph to enter in the ‘people’ category.
I have narrowed my choice down to three photographs, all are from North Korea.
(click on them to see them much bigger)
Left: A young North Korean gymnast hides his face with dirty hands in front of the Hamhung Grand Theatre where they were training for mass gymnastics shows such as Arirang
Middle: A lone North Korean soldier sitting with his head in his lap on a bench in the Mansudae Fountain Park in Pyongyang early one morning.
Right: A North Korean child pretends to look at western visitors through binoculars at the Dongmong cooperative farm on the outskirts of the city of Hamhung. The Hamhung region has only been open to visitors for two years, so most locals have never seen foreigners. Note the child is wearign a ‘Big Bird’ cardigan and ‘Hello Kitty’ boots.
Which one do you prefer? Let me know as a reply or as an ask and I will love you, buy you a steak dinner and a Gameboy Color.

Just found some of my photos from a visit to the Canon HQ for a Jacobs training day last year.
Here is a little hawk/eagle/bird thing sitting on his handler’s hand.

Four years ago I was in New Zealand. In four months, I will be back.
Looking back over my photos from back in 2008 is making me want to be there now. It’s just so damn pretty. Plus, farms are really, really fun.
It has been too long since I’ve shot anything as exciting/enjoyable/photogenic as any of these. Bring on September!
These are just some of the photographs that feature in my updated portfolio on my website, if you go and look, I guarantee you will win the lottery (maybe) www.jamesgourleyphotography.co.uk

Chris Martin jumps as confetti fires from cannons as he sings In My Place in Coventry.
It’s fun having a camera that can shoot 10 frames a second.
I try to avoid ridiculous bursts like this, and try to shoot an actual moment, but sometimes, my trigger finger gets itchy.

TUMBLR I NEED YOUR HELPS.
I am trying to work out photographs to enter into a rather big competition and want as many peoples opinions as possible.
I need to choose one photograph to be entered into the ‘travel’ category, and I’m terrible at making decisions…
WHICH OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHS DO YOU LIKE BETTER? (If you hate both, also please let me know…)
Please send me opinions at http://jgourley.tumblr.com/ask
Top- Thousands of North Korean school children performing synchronised mass gymnastics as part of the Arirang Mass Games in the May Day Stadium, in the DPRK capital Pyongyang.
Bottom- A group of men sit on the steps of the Taedong river in Pyongyang, opposite the Juche Tower, which is less than a metre taller than the Washington Monument.
MUCHAS GRACIAS
